MIAMI, FL | February 1, 2017 – On January 30, 2017, the Southeast Overtown Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (“CRA”) Board of Commissioners awarded a $750,000 grant to the City of Miami Police Department . The grant will assist in relieving the Overtown community from violent crimes and the recent overdoses that have been hampering its growth.

Commissioner Keon Hardemon, the chairman of the agency stated, “Overtown residents deserve a better quality of life and should not have to suffer from social ills presented by outsiders.  The residents need the cooperation of our police in guaranteeing their neighborhood is safe and drug free.” The  monthly board meeting was held on the public streets in the area that has been ground zero for the overdosing epidemic.
