On July 1, 2019, the Hospitality Employees Advancement & Training (HEAT) students had the opportunity to display the food presentation skills they have been learning for the past five weeks  to some of the program’s employers. For each cohort, HEAT invites UNITE HERE Local 355 representatives and its contributing employers for food tastings to showcase the talents of its students and introduce employers to the current cohort. “This experience is a great way to not only initiate connections between the students and employers for job placement but also encourage students to see the fruit of their hard work,” says Esi Fynn-Obeng, HEAT Outreach Coordinator.

In addition, the employers get to share a little bit about their workplaces and expectations and allow students the opportunity to ask questions to get familiar with their properties.

Employers included:

  • Fontainebleau Miami Beach
  • The Diplomat Beach Resort
  • AREAS
  • Delaware North Companies Inc. (DNC)
  • Levy at Marlins Park

HEAT Inc. is committed to providing education and pre-employability services; occupational skills training; and job search and placement services for those seeking employment or advancement within the hospitality industry. For anyone who is interested in participating in the program please contact heatinc.info@gmail.com or (954) 870-8033 for more information.
